Biography:

Prof. Renfang Shen (China) is a Deputy to the National People's Congress of China, the country's highest legislative body. He serves as Director General of the Institute of Soil Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences (ISSCAS), and Honorary President of the Soil Science Society of China (SSSC). He was elected a Fellow of the SSSC in 2021 and has served as Vice President of the China Association of Agricultural Science Societies since 2017.

Internationally, Prof. Shen is active as Chair of Division 3 (Soil Use and Management) of the International Union of Soil Sciences and as Editor-in-Chief of Pedosphere. He also serves as Advisor to the International Fertilizer Development Center–Virtual Fertilizer Research Center.

Prof. Shen received his PhD from Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. His research focuses on the sustainable management of acidic soils, with particular emphasis on aluminum tolerance mechanisms in plants and microorganisms, nutrient (nitrogen and phosphorus)-aluminum interactions, and integrated strategies for acidic soil utilization. Prof. Shen has published more than 300 peer-reviewed journal articles and authored or co-authored 11 academic books.

His contributions have been recognized with numerous honors, including the Science and Technology for Development Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Outstanding Achievement Award and Science and Technology Award of the SSSC, and the First Prize of the Guangdong Provincial Science and Technology Award.
